A crown or cap is used when your entire tooth needs to be covered due to a large cavity or to cover a cracked tooth.  Although they are called porcelain crowns, there is an inside core made of zirconium (also tooth colored) for strength.

Porcelain crowns are the most natural and aesthetically pleasing of all crowns.
