Root Canal Therapy

When decay reaches the nerve of your tooth, the tooth can become very sensitive and may require root canal therapy.  Most of the time, root canal therapy is not painful.  The first visit involves putting medication onto the nerve and covering it with a temporary filling which will relieve the pain.  Teeth have from 1 – 3 canals depending on the location in your mouth.  During the second visit, we remove all the tissue from the canals, clean the walls of the canals, and finally, fill the canals.  After about one week, the crown of the tooth has to be restored with either a filling or a crown.

Root canal therapy is highly successful and almost always lasts a lifetime.
