Porcelain veneers, also commonly known as laminates, are custom porcelain facings that can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth.
Veneers can be a great cosmetic improvement for:
Worn down or chipped teeth
Irregularly shaped or uneven teeth
Teeth with minor overlaps or unsightly gaps
How do laminates work?
Diagnosis and treatment planning
An excellent cosmetic outcome begins with a thorough diagnosis and treatment planning. During the initial cosmetic consultation, diagnostic photos and impressions
for diagnostic models will be taken. A diagnostic “wax up” can be made on the study models. The stone models of the patient’s actual teeth are reshaped with special white wax in order to show the patient the proposed look of their new smile.
The wax up can then be used at the next appointment as a guide for the final restorations. Tooth preparation may involve the removal of approximately ½ of a millimeter in order to make room for the porcelain. An impression of the prepared teeth will be sent to the dental laboratory. Temporary may be worn while skilled artisans fabricate the veneers out of porcelain.
The Veneers are tried in before they are permanently bonded. We want you to be thrilled with the color shape and appearance of your new smile, that’s why they are tried in for your approval before they are bonded.
