Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.
What does tooth whitening involve?
Our favorite method involves two easy visits. During the first appointment, an impression is made of your teeth. After you leave, the real work begins. Accurate stone models of your teeth are made from the impression molds. These stone models are then used to fabricate custom bleaching trays just for you!
At your second appointment, the trays are tried in and adjusted for a perfect fit. The trays are worn, with a special whitening gel for ½ to 1 hour. This may be continued for several days until the desired whitening is reached. The gel uses oxygen to break down stains without harming the enamel.
There are several advantages to this type of tooth whitening:
You control the final amount of whitening. Simply wear the trays for 30 to 60 minutes on consecutive days until your teeth look beautiful and naturally white.
It is very easy and convenient to touch up any superficial stains as needed. Don’t be afraid to enjoy coffee tea red wine or blueberries. The trays are yours. You can use them in the future without the expense of new trays or in office procedures.
Very little or no sensitivity. Most patients have no sensitivity at all when using this method. For the very few who do, it is temporary and can usually be prevented by applying a desensitizer first.
